Dashers at the Dining Centers

Derby Dashers

Dashers is the fast, convenient way for you to get a nutritious meal on the go! Derby offers an assortment of fresh foods and beverages in portable, disposable containers.

To obtain a Dashers meal, select your cuisine of choice/line and go to check stand at the top of the stairs. Inform the checker you would like a Dashers meal and follow this procedure.

  • Present your ID card to the checker.
  • The checker will give you a disposable meal container, soup bowl, and 16 oz. paper cup.
  • Select your meal from the menu offerings.
  • Return to the check stand in 10 minutes to pick up your ID card, and obtain lids, straws, and eating utensils.
  • Promptly exit the dining center.

Your Dashers meal should fit inside the issued containers, and is meant to be taken with you. It is not permissible to eat your Dashers meal in Derby’s Dining Rooms, or use additional or unapproved containers.

Breakfast Dashers meals can be obtained on D-Line using the above procedure. If you would like to obtain a lunch or dinner meal at breakfast or a dinner meal at lunch, please use F-Line and inform the checker you are ‘dashing’ for lunch/dinner. You will be issued the appropriate service ware, and should follow the above procedure. For a lunch Dashers, you can select from fresh deli meats, cheeses, yogurt, relishes, chips, and cookies. Dinner selections include all lunch-offered selections. Your respective Dashers meal for that day will be deducted from your meal card. If you choose to get a lunch or dinner Dashers meal at breakfast, your meal card will not work during the respective meal period that day-should you change your mind and want to dine in at Derby.

Dashers meals are only available for students with meal plans. Cash paying guests are not allowed to use the Dashers service.

Think food safety first! Keep in mind, that safe food-handling procedures should be followed once your meal leaves the dining facility. The dining center cannot be responsible for food-borne illnesses due to improper handling occurring after food has left the facility. If you do not plan to consume your meal within an hour, we suggest you open the styrofoam lid and refrigerate the meal. Please ask any of the dining center management staff if you have questions about how to handle food safely.
